Crossroads

by Tamsen Grace, copyright 2017

There’s pain
In the crossing,
Overlapping,
Intersecting.
juxtaposition
of your future
meeting a past
you no longer belong to.
Same streets,
crossroads,
patterns of life
bringing you back,
but at last setting you free.

Love is a Strong Word

by Tamsen Grace, copyright 2017

Love is a
strong word,
voices heard
speaking,
seeking
to remove,
barriers,
walls,
resistance,
sometimes
clothes,
softly, seductively reassured…

Love is a strong word

Rehabilitating,
entreating,
sometimes
defeating,
with multiple
meanings,
sometimes
not directly stated,
but inferred.

Love is a strong word

can’t be cured,
or made
but can
definitely eventually fade,
through distance
and neglect,
by not keeping fear
in check,
when we’re not
self assured,

Love is a strong word

in my life…

hopelessly,
obscured.

Humanity Sings

by Tamsen Grace, copyright 2017

Humanity sings,
Can you hear it?

In laughter and sighs,
in cries of passion,
in moans of pain.

Humanity sings,
In silent screams,
In the pulse of a beating heart,
in swaying hips to a soundless song,
in the rhythmic march of soldiers boots,
in a whispered sigh over a dying dream,
in a gunshot in the dark.

Humanity sings.
of life and death
and everything in between.
Of hope and despair,
of love lost
and faith reborn,
of sins redeemed
and passion scorned.

Humanity sings,
in the first clear cry
from a new borns mouth,
In a cry of triumph
or a whimper of defeat,
in a desperate plea to heaven,
in the quiet acceptance of death,
In a jubilant song of praise,
or the silent solitude of prayer,

Can you hear, Humanity sing?

A Thousand Thorns

by Tamsen Grace, copyright 2017

This is no Eden,
but a world of
a thousand thorns,
naked,
exposed,
they pierce my skin.
Original sin,
mine or theirs?
A theory of evolution,
to fight to survive,
to win at all costs,
the very reason…
paradise was lost.

This is no Eden,
but a world
of a thousand thorns.
