Editor’s Note: This lovely ekphrastic poem celebrating rain by Dr. Angelee Deodhar seems particularly appropriate given the extreme dry weather and wild fires we are having in the Pacific Northwest–and yes here we are praying for rain (unlike in Texas!). Dr. Deodhar, however, lives in India. Just shows how universal a theme this is.   My painting of a woman drumming (“Intensity” by Bea Garth) helped inspire her poem.

Bio: Dr. Angelee Deodhar is an eye surgeon by profession, and a haiku poet, translator, and artist lives and works in Chandigarh, India. Her haiku, haibun and haiga have been published internationally, and her work can be viewed online too. To promote haiku in India, she has translated six books of haiku from English to Hindi.
